Kris Merc

Kris Merc’s work fuses fun surprises, raw realism and visual sleights of hand in a huge range of styles involving motion design, VFX, character design, and filmmaking.

Kris has received accolades for his visually striking music videos for acts such as De La Soul, The Peach Kings, Spirit Animal, The Griswolds, James and Joey BadA$$, and for brands including Facebook, Adidas, Instagram, Reebok, Lowes, Nintendo, Coca Cola, IBM, MTV, NBA, Glad and dozens more. His work has been featured on Nowness, Rolling Stone, Complex, Hypebeast, Motionographer, Campaign Live, Adweek, Stash, Gawker, Jones and B, Cartoon Brew, Vimeo Staff Picks and more.

“For me, animation is tied to the idea of truth, just by the gesture and the animator’s and illustrator’s touch. It lets you speak to a wider audience, real people out there who can find their way to it and be impacted in ways that are personal. ANimation i agnostic. It’s universal.”

His recent film ‘Grounded’ has seen global recognition as part of Google’s Black-Owned Friday campaign, being the winner of two Andy awards, a Webby People’s Voice, a silver Clio and just recently named as Campaign Live’s ‘Most Purposeful Campaign of the Year’. His project for Facebook’s celebration of Latinx & Hispanic Heritage Month also saw global recognition and allowed Kris to work with his motivations of uplifting & sharing the stories of his community. He is equally comfortable with cel animation, stop-motion, bricolage, and designing by hand or digitally. Kris always has something to offer and his innovative work always raises the bar for visual achievement.
