A Bafta-nomintated director and animator based in London.
Matthias Hoegg’s approach to animation is led by distinctive design and succinct storytelling. Collaborations are key to his work and have allowed him to work across a broad range of creative fields, from children’s TV to animated documentaries, branding and commercials.
Matthias graduated from the Illustration and Animation Course in Kingston in 2006 and the MA course in Animation at the Royal College of Art in London in 2010. Since 2006 he has worked on projects for clients such as Morrisons, Warp Films, Tate, Tropicana, CBeebies, Skoda, Rightmove and The Guardian. His work as a director has been recognised with a BAFTA nomination in 2011, a finalist nomination for a 2012 British Animation Award and voted Best Student Film by short film blog Short of the Week also in 2012. In 2013 he won an ADC Young Guns Award and a YCN Award, a special mention at the London Short Film Festival 2014, Best TV Graphics at the British Animation Awards 2016 and was a D&AD Awards Pencil Winner for his work for The Guardian in the same year. Matthias’ films have been featured in Stash, The Reel, Motionographer, Onedotzero, Computer Arts, It’s Nice That, Creative Review and over 40 other film and animation festivals around the world.
