The eighth entry into the Gear's of War franchise exploded onto our screens via these two action packed trailers. Creative Directors Andy Hall and Noah Harris, and the team at Elastic, worked closely with 215 McCann, Xbox and The Coalition on the launch campaign.

Working collaboratively with 215 McCann, Andy Hall’s ability of capturing believability in characters – was most called upon. Working with the actor from the game, Footage from the motion capture shoot was then applied with a heavy dose of CG by a large team of animators.

In Gear 5:

Gears 5 follows the story of Kait Diaz, who is on a journey to find out the origin of the Locust Horde, the main antagonistic faction of the Gears of War series.

Andy created two epic films for the Gears 5 launch. The trailer, “The Chain,” follows Kait on an action-packed minute-long journey, as she battles obstacles both real and imagined. This film required a combination of character work with large-scale FX.

The piece that highlights the game’s renewed focus on character-led drama is the “Kait, Broken,” Trailer shown at E3. Andy's ability of capturing believability in characters brings this film to life. The film is a stark character study of the hero Kait, as various identities and painful memories try to tear through her emotional psyche.

The Chain is driven by the Fleetwood Mac classic "The Chain", covered by Evanesence lead vocalist, Amy Lee. This darker, warped version of the classic song twists the original's meaning to embody the dark threat within the game. Whilst "Kait, Broken" is set to Billie Eilish's “Bury a Friend”.
