The pigeons have flown the coop!

We are so proud to be a part of this year’s most exciting seasonal event - the John Lewis Christmas advert. Anthony Farquhar-Smith helped bring his craft, love, and signature style to one of the stop motion sections of the project. Anthony was not only one of the eight artists chosen to collaborate, but also the overall animation supervisor on this year’s hotly-anticipated campaign, titled ‘Give A Little Love.’

“A little love gets passed on, then gets passed on to another person. That’s what we’re going to need this Christmas.”

Working with director Oscar Hudson; Anthony and Arch Model Studio (makers of the puppets for Wes Anderson’s films brought the charming characters of Spike, a hedgehog with dreams of flying, and the Pigeon Crew to Life.

The team worked tirelessly to inject the heart of this concept into every aspect, from the initial sketches to each movement of the puppets. It was shot over 6 days in London and produced by Not To Scale. We hope it brings you as much joy to watch as it did for us to create.  Inspired by the heartwarming friendship of Spike and Pidge, let’s all try to give a little love this holiday season.
