Biography
Chris Ketchell completed an MA in Animation at the Royal College of Art. After creating the short ‘Peter Popgun’ at Aardman, Chris gained funding through the AIR scheme allowing him to make his own film, ‘Cosa Raccomanda Lei’ which was later screened on Channel 4.

This much-lauded short film came about after Chris was taken to Italy by his girlfriend. On falling in love with the country, he decided he wanted to write a film entirely in a foreign language and try to overcome the challenge of having to communicate
the story to an English audience via visual means.

The success and brilliance of ‘Cosa Raccomanda Lei’ led Chris to win the international campaign for European giants Zurich Connect. Chris however is no stranger to large projects; barely stepping through the door at Not To Scale he landed a global campaign for Fortis Insurance.

As an animator, Chris still believes in the authenticity and inherent charm of bringing the character or in-animate object to life. In addition to this he has always loved experimenting with illusion through perspective, lenses, flat colours, painted shadow, back projection and lighting.

From a design point of view Ketchell draws inspiration from expressionist films, set design and bold graphic UPA cartoons of the 50’s and the television and music of the 60’s.
